Hi folks.....having fun reading your mails about Transatlantic cruise. I am on the NCL Gem leaving NYC to the Med (15 days) on 19 April and it's my 1st crossing, too. I found lots of great info about ports at www.PortReviews.com by a guy named Tom Ogg. I am a single cruiser on most of my trips so I always do my homework before going. I noted the remark about Seville which prompted this post. I am planning to hit Seville off the ship (alone or with fellow ship mates I may meet). Point is, the trains are quicker everywhere than even the escorted motorcoach tours. Anyway, thought I'd drop the web site on you all, in case it helps any. Gotta save those poor US dollars! Have fun on Navigator! (loved my S. Caribbean on the Radiance. 2002 Inaugural in a GS...sweet (pardon pun!) ).
well, fellow cruisers.....leonard & i became first time grandparents on st patricks day! what a cutie he is! his name is aidan & what a little irishman he is! reddish blonde hair & all! don't worry, when on board....we promise not to pull out the photos! see you in 3 weeks, and happy belated st patricks day to all!
thank you all! gosh, i need a vacation already! i'm so ready for this cruise.....hey sonny, are you wearing a tux? not now....but for formal night? lol hoping to see a few gents in their tuxes, as we ladies do our best to dress! see you on board!
Yeah, I'll be wearing a tux for a least one of the formal nights. Did you find anything interesting to do at any of the ports? We don't get into King's Wharf until 7pm on Monday. Esther and I don't know if we'll be getting off the ship after dark.
RE: bermuda....i'm hoping to find a beachside evening party (calypso). they usually have them every night at sundown....but the dates are a wee bit pre-season, so i'm not sure if there will be any. i found a really cool restaurant to go to if no parties are available. i love seafood! but, if the ship is as fabulous as i think it is...we may not get off at all! i'm so happy you're wearing a tux......leonard was scared to be the only one! lol the 15th is leonards birthday, so hopefully it will be a good beach day in bermuda. see you on board, angel
3 weeks today ,were starting to get excited. The weather in SF is getting better and it's time to see if the clothes still fit.Angel we're night people so if you here of any night spots in Berumda keep us posted and Sonny, just where are the pink sand beaches there I've heard so much about. We have never been there and it looks like this will be the only beach we make on this trip.
hi c&k! go to this website: bermuda-online.org it has great info on which are the closest beaches to the dockyard, which are public, etc... also tells of why sand is so pink----it's the reefs. the only other pink sand in the world is in punta cana-dominican republic. just gorgious! can't wait! ps....glad to hear i'm not the only night owl angel
I'm soooo jealous of your rooms I,have never gotten an upgrade, maybe there is something to that D+ after all. Sonny I saw your hometown on CNN today and your really getting some snow.Is it just me or does anybody elses clothes shrink from last year while hanging in the closet?
I usually notice my clother shrinkage during a cruise. Even my shoes seem to get smaller. The snow storm just made me a lot more anxious for this cruise. Any one can get an upgrade, you just have to pay the difference.
What scares me the most is I know I'll like it.I remember when the kids were small 4 in a inside was't bad.Just so happy to be cruisen. Then your first balcony and theres no going back.Do you get a special price since it's so close to sail time? We did the Mariner a couple of times and Becky was the CD and she really grew on us
There is no special price because it's so close to sailing time. Right now the balcony prices start at $1,749 pp, and junior suites are $2,299 pp. The interior cabins are still going for $449 pp.
hey there, sonny! room #1330, glad to see you guys upgraded! i have a feeling it'll be a good choice, due to the length of the cruise. did the upgrade fairy visit, or did you and esther "bite the bullet"? our room is on deck 10 near the elevators and staircase--which will be handy to the concierge lounge.....heeheehee all of my clothes shrunk! but leonard and i are crash-dieting as we speak, as not to purchase new clothes! we have to make room for all of the FOOD! gosh, 18 days? so close, and yet so far! SEE YOU SOON, angel
hey sonny, since you've been diamond a long time, tell me....does the concierge usually e-mail you in advance of the cruise? just curious from reading other people's posts. and if so, is it just for introduction, or do you request stuff from him at that time? thanx-angel
Hi! Being a diamond member doesn't warrant an email from the concierge, only grand suites and above have true concierge service. I was in an owners suite last year and got an email from the concierge introducing himself and asking if I needed anything special. It was a week before the cruise date. We're in 1260 which is near the front elevator.
i saw the room #1260-wow, what a balcony!!! woo-hoo well, now that you're in that suite, i guess we'll be getting that e-mail! if i had known that the balcony was that big, i would have picked it. sunrises will be lovely from it, for sure. thanx for all of your helpful info
