I have a friend that needs oxygen and wants to take a cruise to Hawaii that is two weeks long. The ship is the Radiance of the Sea. Could any body give me advice on what to do. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

I just got off the Regal Princess. I saw a man carrying his portable oxygen tank everywhere with him. So, I guess it can be done. I would call the cruise line for info. Good Luck, Lil' Lori

Your friend should definitely work with an experienced, cruise-oriented travel agent, as there are a good number of special rules regarding oxygen, both on the cruise line and also on airplanes. And it does take a plane to get to Hawaii, unless your friend is starting and ending on the mainland (on a 2-week cruise, that's possible.) There is a lot of variation between cruise lines and airlines on what they will allow and what they will provide, too.

My sister traveled with oxygen. The airlines require you to use their oxygen (for a fee). She had a machine that "made" (?) her oxygen - quite a large thing that plugged into a wall and have a very long hose, and which was also used to fill her smaller temporary tank. On the last three cruises she did (on Celebrity), she booked a suite, which gave her the room she needed for her machine, which she brought with her. Even if using a great cruise specialist, I would suggest contacting the cruise line personally to make sure you understand all of their (the cruise line's) requirements. Get it in writing from them.
