My mom loves to cruise but within the past few months had had need of dialysis treatment on a regular basis. She is very despondent as she is resigned to never being able to cruise again. A friend told me that there are cruises that seh can take and still get treatments. Is anyone anywhere of this? Is it possible? And, if so, what cruise ships have these capabiliites?

Brenda,

yes, there are cruises that offer dialysis treatment. I am currently not aware of any U.S. mass market lines offering them, but a specialized travel agent might be able to tell you.

I am, however, aware of several European, mostly German cruise ships offering cruises for passengers in need of dialysis treatment on a reagular basis. One of these ships, Peter Deilmann's M/S "Deutschland", is also marketed in America and is well-suited for English-speaking passengers, as well.

Best regards,

Brenda,
As Raoul has already mentioned - yes, this is very possible. The best resource for this type of cruise is http://www.dialysisatsea.com. They offer a number of cruises on many different cruise lines and can also make private arrangements for individuals in need of dialysis while on a cruise.
