Apparently I refuse to let this topic die...

Anyway, I need a "fancier" name for a chicken breast stuffed with a cornbread-like stuffing. This is one of the options at my wedding, and I don't really like the sound of "Cornbread Stuffed Chicken".

I know I didn't give you much detail, but is there a creative mind out there that can come up with something better?

Simple - just translate it to French. That always makes it sound more elegant. I don't speak French but Babelfish calls it "Poulet bourré par pain de maïs". That sounds about right.

thats actually not a bad idea at all! and my fiancee's brother in law (my brother in law?) speaks a bunch of languages, and i bet French is one....thanks Dave!

anyone else?

EDIT - just thought of a small problem with that....we need people to also know what it is they are ordering....they need to pick the meal when they RSVP, so they won't have a waiter to ask...maybe half French?

O.K. I have the answer to this question. You shall call your chicken dish "Coq au bourrage" which translates to Rooster that's been packed. At least the groomsmen will get a kick out of it.
P.S. You can't throw pieces of this entree at each other because Coq fighting is illegal in the U.S. Laugh out loud

In parentheses by the official names you put brief descriptions such as: (free range chicken breast filled with cornbread and herbs ala Provence). I like calling it "Coq au bourrage".

There's always Stuffed Breast of Chicken; or Stuffed Chicken Breast for the grammatically impaired.

Then again, you could do what we did for the wedding. We had it catered with barbecue, cole slaw, potato salad, and banana pudding. Serious!

(note for non-southerners: "barbecue" means pork boston butts and shoulders slowly cooked indirectly by hickory smoke for at least 12 hours, and then shredded with forks into small pieces)

In the end, we might wind up doing just that - if just for simplicity. I just know that I'm going to get a million calls from people asking "but what's it stuffed WITH?"

Dave - you are making me hungry. My dad makes a mean pulled pork shoulder. Even though we are in NY, I think you would be proud.

Simplicity is good. I get a laugh out of how some places describe things. I remember staying at the Sheraton in Birmingham for a VFW convention. They just HAD to have an embellishment for everything on the room service menu. Under beverages, you could order a case of beer - of course at bar prices which made it around $100 for a case. As I recall, they built it up as "A case of beer. 24 cans of the finest American lager". The choices were Bud, Miller, or Coors.

Reminds me of my first few cruises and trying to translate the dinner menu. Heck, I still have problems sometimes, so I try to figure it out ahead of time. Smile

And let's not forget the need to call raw veggies "crudites". "Yes waiter, I'll have the crew dites appetizer". "Yes sir, the crew-di-tays". <ahem>

Geez... they could have at least had Sam Adams to make it a tad more believable.
