Are you referring to the 39 yo woman who is belived to have jumped after becoming angry and agitated with her boyfriend? I believe this happened on May 8 of Florida. She was on the Costa Mediterranea. I'm sorry but jumping into the ocean from a moving cruise ship is not something I could fathom but desperate people do desperate things.
This is going to come across wrong so, sorry in advance. With a girlfriend that unstable and out of control, as tragic as the story is, that guy is in for a much smoother life. Can you imagine someone thinking, "I'll show him!" and actually jumping off a moving ship at sea? I'm betting it didn't take long for her emotional state to go from anger and revenge to something entirely different. What a shame.
Buppa-Thank You for the news thread. It is hard to imagine a passenger falling overboard-still one never knows. I suspect drinking, bad tempers, arguments and/or terminal diseases play a more significant role in these missing persons reports. Any passenger or crew lost at sea is sad. At this time of year with low water temperatures in that region of the Atlantic it is not likely she survived. Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes for the family of that passenger.
I think these are two different stories both involving boyfriends? The one I read about happened on the 8th off the Florida Coast. She jumped and last I read they still had not found her.
I still think you have to either try, be incredibly drunk or stupid or have assistance to end up in the drink. No way you can accidentally fall of a cruiseship. Maybe they should initiate an IQ test before allowing a booking instead of caging in the balconies. Well, on second thought, after dealing with the general public for a long time, that might not be a good idea. They'd suffer much loss of revenue!
I am listening to this story on Nancy Grace right now. The family suspects foul play. This happened 4 hrs after sailing. The "boyfriend" is the one saying she was trying to go from balcony to balcony. They say there was abuse in the relationship. She is a nurse, 46yo and a mother of two. I think we will hear quite a bit about this one like the groom who dissapeared. They were traveling with another couple who had the room next door. They say the weather was bad outside. Family says this is uncharacteristic of her. The boyfriend is still on the ship. The ship is due in Burmuda tomorrow. I smell a rat!
Thanks for the info everyone. I sure hope they don't do the cage thing , but it wouldn't surprise me. I can't believe he is still on the ship. How could he possibly continue his vacation after something so horrific happened to his girlfriend. I hope they are able to find out the truth about why she went overboard. Dave, we need to get Matlock and Columbo on this thing ASAP.

What do you mean? Its not like he could have swam back to New Jersey. He would have had to continue on to Bermuda at least and then fly back from there.

When I read that the coast guard was looking for her, I thought they would give him the option to take a helicopter ride with them back to shore, given the emergency nature of the situation. I took a previous post that said "he's still on the ship" to mean he had choosen to stay on the ship by choice. I'm not stupid, I didn't think he was going to magically get back to shore.
