Since the favorite football team thread was getting so long, I thought I'd start a Super Bowl one. We know who the teams are, so I'm going with the Pats to win it. How about y'all? Then after the game's over, let's see what the favorite commercial is. My all-time favorite is the Mean Joe Green one, Bud has come up with some great ones-I loved the Clydesdales and the lizzards. I wonder how many people will be at sea when the game is played...sure wish I was one of them
Penny, I will be getting on the Navigator of the Seas Saturday for my 6th Superbowl cruise. I went on my first one in 2003 by accident when I saw a good deal on a 3nt NCL cruise. Not realizing it was Superbowl weekend. They showed the game and had tailgating food in the lounge. The next year my husband and I tried Superbowl weekend on a Carnival cruise 3nt. They showed the Superbowl in the main show lounge on big screen and brought in lots of tailgaiting food into the lounge. This year we have 20 of us going. I think it would be fun sometime to do it on one of the ships that has the big screens by the pool. Whether it's Princess, Carnival, or Disney.

Penny, I'm already planning next years on the Grandeur of The Seas. Be happy to have you join us.
Dave-- We would have had the same problem of people with school kids. It always amazes me though how many people do take kids out of school. I was just reading an article though by a Travel Agent who struggled with whether she should take her children out of school. She decided the educational things they learned on the cruise was worth it. As a matter of fact--the article was in the Feb Cruise Travel magazine.
Give the kids a lesson on democracy; let them vote on it.
Penny, I already saw the winning commerical. It's the Bud lite for sure. My best cruising buddy sent it to me via e-mail. It's about two dogs. I hope it airs because.
One thing I am happy about is Fox is not allowing any political commercials for the Super Bowl, and that is all I'm going to say about that.
I always like the Bud commercials, probably because I am usually drinking a Bud product while watching the game. I am making Chicago-style Italian Beef sandwiches for the game. I even got some giardiniera made by Il Primo delivered today to use as the traditional garnish. I'll make my own Italian rolls too.
I always work superbowl Sunday. You'd be surprised how many wives are trying to get away from hubby's football buddies and ruckus. They go get on the computer and book cruises! I get to ask what the score is and get an update from clients. Never get to see it myself anymore.
So here we are. Super Bowl XLII is a couple hours away and I sit here in my official Giants jersey (number 56, BEERS on the back). I prepared Chicago Italian Beef yesterday so it could marinate overnight for my sandwiches today. Also got some Il Primo giardiniera to top the sandwiches with.
Now the endless pre-game hype drones on, and we hope for a game and not a boring blow-out.
Half-time show looks good...Tom Petty is hard to beat.
Anyone else tuning in? We already know Neal is selling cruises today.
I'll be doing what I usually do Sunday nights...neaten the computer desk and pay bills.
I like the game of football, yet I don't follow the NFL. This year is a bit of a dilemma as I live in New England, but grew up in New York, so I'm just hoping for a good game.
Neil, I'm there with you in spirit, my friend; I worked Sundays for 19 years. I just retired and this will be the first Super Bowl game I've seen live. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for thinkin about me on Super Bowl Sunday! I have the game on with sound off but the phones are busy so I'm spending most of my time staring at monitor, not the TV. Still looks like the Giants are off to a good start! Go blue helmets!
Well it's half time and looks like the Giants are holding their own. The phone has stopped and so have I. Gonna watch the second half, looks like a great game. Lisa, turn on your picture now, I'm turning up the sound after halftime show. We'll both get to see if the second half is as good as the first.
The Giants have a chance. I hated the couple missteps they made in the first half, but they have still kept Brady contained.
Meanwhile I have just started eating my first italian beef sandwich and it is great! Very hot though - the giardiniera is very spicy! Just the way I like it!
