We may have to consider an alternative this spring (April)to our usual cruise with an all inclusive vacation. We have been to Aruba and Jamaica in the past and are looking for help with selecting one as an option. We are looking for something WARM and SAFE. Any help would be appreciated.
I know, it's all about cruising; I didn't mean to use the A I words but I know that many have probably done one as an alternative to cruising and really value all the knowledge out there.
My co-workers and friends were highly recommending that I go to one particular "A.-I." resort in the Dominican Republic. It is called "RIU Bachata". And it is located in the Dominican resort town of Puerto Plata. After all their glowing reviews (some said they wished that they could live there for the rest of their lives), I was tempted to book a vacation there. But after some thought and look into the prices, I realized it would be easier and more affordable to take a cruise. That is the case, since I live in FLorida and it is a relatively short ride to some of the busiest cruise ports.
Anyway, for more information about the RIU Bachata in Puerto Plata, D.R., they have a website. Click here to visit that website:RIU Bachata
There are many excellent AI properties. In Aruba many people like the Occidental. There are many Sandals properties in Jamaica. There are many properties with the name Barcelo, RIU, and Palace (Moon, Beach, SUN), all are good choices.
Most Caribbean ports are quite safe as they tend to rely on tourism as a major economic source. The two that you mentioned have had bad publicity in recent years. Aruba---Natalee Holloway (enough said)... and Jamaica---numerous incidents involving tourists. If you are insistent about the whole "AI" thing, I would definitely look into Sandals as a relatively decent cruise alternative.
