Yesterday was an interesting weather day for us in north Alabama. They are also saying it will be bad Saturday night. Here is video of a tornado that came through a little west of us (probably closer to Penny).
Wow, quite a video. Didn't look like a big tornado but it still packed quite a punch. I see those videos of massive tornados in Tornado Alley in the TX panhandle and OK up through KS and wonder why folks choose to live there. Then you see predictions on earthquakes for parts of CA and I wonder the same. But here I am in Houston, 50 miles from a very likely port for huricanes and the site of the deadliest natural disaster in US history and have become used to the preparation and am bothered very little by the posibility. I guess mother nature can turn your world upside-down anywhere.
We spent over 1/2 hour in the basement yesterday. On the way home I only saw a couple of limbs down and a few garbage cans strewn about. Once again, we were lucky. A co-worker's cousin's house was destroyed yesterday, along with a family cemetery. Thankfully, no one was hurt in his family anyway.
I saw that on the news yesterday and thought of you and Penny. I am glad you both are safe. I have been through some hurricanes, but I have yet to see one pick up a car and toss it like that! Pretty scary! Hope all goes well today.

Seems odd since living in Houston for so many years to hear someone talk about basements. There is no such thing here. The water table is too high, everything is built on a slab or piers depending on soil conditions and elevation. I grew up in KY and we had a glorious basement I spent much of my early years in, playing ping pong or darts or a hundred other things set up down there. I miss having a basement! Would really come in handy when hurricanes threaten our area.
I miss having a basement too. It was always the coolest place in the house during the summer. There are only a few places where I live that would be feasable. I would love to have even a small one as a storm shelter. Hope all faired well today.

Now that would scare the crap out of me! I get nervous enough when they issue a watch! I hope that you, Vanessa, and Jacob are alright. And Penny and Ron too. There is not much more of a frightening thing than thinking a tornado is coming. That storm looked really bad from what they were showing on the weather channel.

Well, the house rattled like the time in February. I turned on the tv and they said there was nothing around out area, until someone from Trinity called in. Then they realized that there was indeed a storm with possible rotation. Yesterday morning, all I found amiss was some limbs blown down and the umbrella out in the yard. I guess it didn't touch down, but there was one near us. The house doesn't vibrate unless it's really blowing. I wonder if it will ever get warm here.
Glad all is well. We had a watch until 11pm last night. We were barely in the watch box thank goodness. The rain and wind yesterday put a damper on the Harley Davidson Rally though. I was going to go check out the vendors, but stayed inside and watched the weather all evening.

Couldn't be that he was mistaken! After all, he invented the internet and has a Nobel Prize, a Grammy and and Oscar. Mother Nature just doesn't yet know he's in charge of the weather too.

Hmmm, maybe this explainns why Penny's house was vibrating. Gotta love that American made rumble!
Cheers, Neil
I do love it! There are six Harleys parked close to my car right now. I have to remember not to set my car alarm because the rumble sets it off. The weather has been strange this spring. I usually switch the thermostat from heat to off for several weeks, then move it to cool. It has been from to heat to cool, and back to heat twice.
My heart really goes out to the people that suffered and had losses from the recent bad weather.
