Nadine- You first have to post your photo to a host web site such as http://www.webshots.com/ Once it's on their site you'll have an option to choose a link of what size to include on the cruise-chat web site. The link (not the actual photo) is then entered into the reply box at the top drop down menu "URL". It seems like a lot of effort to post a photo but it takes longer to explain than it takes to actually do.
Thank you. I will try that. I have my pictures at Walgreens.com and I tried copying the URL, but it didn't work. Dave had suggested trying a host web site, too, but when Walgreens didn't work, I gave up!
I'll try again over the weekend when I have more time. Thank you!
Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that when you post photo's at the Walgreen's site there put there only for the purpose of your personal order & the other hosts encourage other propel to but prints they like. ie webshots, shapfish, photobucket,tubeimage...there a seems to be a lot of them.
Thank you Sonny. It's a neat website, but if I could find one for free, that would be better!
RichC, have you used webshots and do you feel it is secure and all that stuff?
I would just love a post a couple of pictures from our Alaska cruise. I want to share them with the world! But I would just pick out a couple. Plus I like the challenge of trying new things on the computer.
I'll jump in here, Nadine; I've used Webshots for about a year now and am completely happy with it. They have a premium account that comes with a fee; but we have the free version and it serves us just fine. It is very user-friendly; believe me, if I can use it, it is user-friendly.

Nadine- I don't know about the security issue as the pictures you upload are available for anyone to see. There is an option to lock off a particular folder if you want to keep others from viewing certain photo's. You can then send an invitation to family members to see the locked off folder. What would be you concern about security? IF there were pictures you didn't want the world to see you probably shouldn't be posting them there anyway. Uploading is a slow process at best & to try to include all my photo's from our last cruise would take forever, so I just select pertinent ones as needed.
I found the same thing, RichC; I had planned to store all my photos there but it does take a long time to upload. So now I just upload the ones I want to post or share with others. And yes, they have a private "shoebox" where only the people you allow have access. But the uploading and posting process is really easy.

Thanks guys! I guess I worded that wrong about security. I'm not worried about the pictures. It's just that anytime I have to register at a site, I have been "trained" by my husband and son to be cautious!
I am going to try to webshots and see what I can accomplish!
Nadine, you can never be too cautious when giving out your information. I am the same way. There are still some things I will not do online. But I checked Webshots out carefully and I feel very confident my information is secure with them. And with the "standard" account you don't have to give any more than your e-mail address--no credit card info.

OK, I joined Webshots. Now let's see if I've done this right!
That didn't work. I'll try one more time. If it doesn't work, HELP! What I did was copy the URL from the yellow box on the right hand corner of the webshots page. Then I pasted it into the URL box at the top of the "Post a Reply" on cruise-chat. What did I do wrong?
Nadine, I've never had any luck with that little URL box at "Post a Reply" on Cruise-Chat either; I know there is a way to do it but I've never figured it out--or its never worked for me.
What does work is this:
On Webshots, scroll down below the yellow URL box to the box that says "Link to This Picture"; check one of the sizes (100, 200, 425, 500, 600); this will determine the size of the posted photo--600 being biggest, and the one I usually use.
Now scroll down to the third line of code that says "Post to a Forum"; left-click on this line to highlight it; then right-click to bring up the menu. place the cursor over "Copy" and right-click again. The menu will disappear, the line will remain highlighted, and it will not look like anything happened--but you have copied the code.
Now go to your reply box at Cruise-Chat; after you have written your text, drop down a couple of lines and then just right click to bring up the menu again; then put your cursor over "Paste" this time and right-click again. A lot of code should appear in your reply box. If you want to add more text, just dorp down a couple of more lines. When you are finished, click on "Post Now".
I know it seems really complicated the first few times you do it, and I think there is an easier way. But I know this works. If you get stuck again you can PM me so we don't have to do this in open forum.
Good luck!

OK, here goes! If this turns out, it is a picture of majestic Mt. McKinley.
One thing I think I did wrong was that I put the pictures in an album. Then I couldn't get that "Link to this picture" box. So I uploaded them again as pictures instead of an album. Then I got that message.
