We were in NC yesterday. Not sure of the town, was headed to the Outter Banks from Virginia Beach. Paid $3.59... that is real cheap for us used to paying $4.25 or more.
Outer Banks were GREAT!!!.
I was glad I had plenty of fuel when I was in DC. The have prices like us in California.
Really enjoying your sights here on the east coast. I was sorry we only had two days in DC.

I live so close, yet seem to never have the time to visit the Outer Banks. My Mom and Dad have been reading up on the area as a "StayCation". I see a day trip in my future. Smile

I filled up last night, $3.79/gal. for high test. Now if it would just get back to $2.79/gal. I've been all over the east coast and never visited the Outer Banks. Sounds like it would be a fun place to visit.

After Russia's attack on Georgia this will put a reversal on any drop in the price.

Not necessarily. Excerpt from a story I just read, posted less than an hour ago:

...crude fell $2.08 to $113.12 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after dipping as low as $112.79, oil's lowest level since early May. Oil traders appeared to set aside uneasiness about fighting between Russia and Georgia that had raised the possibility of supply disruptions in the region...

$3.74/gal. last night at Murray for high test. I read in the paper last night that crude went back up to $119/bbl. I was also listening to the interview between Charles Gibson and the CEO of Exxon. He was whining because they spend 1 billion a day, yet they're posting profits of over 30B a quarter. Now if that's true, they're raking in 40B a month. Someone other than the Sheiks have got to be making money out of this.

We were at $3.57 for regular at Wally World on Wednesday. Yeah, I think that same guy was on Larry King recently trying to put a spin on it.

It is $3.87 in Oakhurst today.
We have a long ways to go but it is headed in the right direct. Now if Ike does not mess things up.

Sadly, Ike has a bad track right now - it's like New Orleans has a "kick me" sign hanging on their back. We just saw the last of the evacuee's leave from our area shelters, and I am concerned they may be coming back sooner than they'd wish.

It is $3.45 for 87 octane around here today.

We are down under $3.40 in Tucson . . . Don't know if the Gulf hurricanes will effect us or not - My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you in the path(s) of Gustav, Hannah, Ike and whatever is still to come.

Do you mean 10 gallons? That is what they are suggesting around here, mostly with the Pantry Convenience Store chain which operates as Kangaroo Express in this area.

People are such fools at times. A "Panic In The Year Zero" mentality is happening locally today with 30 minute lines at gas stations. Of course this means that the myth of a shortage becomes reality. I know I am probably including those who actually needed fuel in this, but most of them are just overreacting.

It's like the local custom of clearing out the shelves of supermarkets whenever the possibility of snow is forecast. The real heroes are the ones who buy perishable items before ice storms, which typically means a loss of electricity - sometimes for days.

No. They said $10 dollars. I just got back from the gas station & the prices are all over the place $3.63 up to $3.78 depending on if they received a delivery today I suppose. Everyone in this area of Fl has their cans filled up from the last hurricane that passed us by -Gustav.

Man, $10 is not even 3 gallons. That wouldn't fill up my riding mower. How can they expect anyone to take that recommendation to heart?

The lemmings have scored an initial victory at my local stations and most of them are out of 87 octane. Nice work, idiots. They were aided and abetted by the local TV stations, which egged them on with ominous reports about price gouging and shortages in their quest to become local versions of Fox and CNN. "Breaking News!"

The fact that prices were rising to respond to the increase in wholesale gasoline prices was conveniently left out of the media reports.

Hubby bought gas for his delivery truck at 8am for $3.69. I stopped in at 2pm and it was $3.79. Guy who owns the station said he had a delivery coming in the morning and the rate would be at least $3.99 or higher after that. We are not seeing long lines or anything like that here in Ohio but I'm sure stations are busier than normal with the increases coming.

As Frank Barone would say...Holy Crap!

Our gas went from $3.63 to $3.99 over night!

There is no reasonable excuse for this. Oh yea, there is one. Greed. There is no supply shortage where I live, and no cars lined up. I hope someone starts a Class Action against the companies and people that do this.

Well I hate to say this. It has not hit here yet. Fuel went from $3.79 to $3.82, is usually goes up for the weekend.
I am glad I fueled up today, I hate to go town tomorrow.
Greed is right.
