In my humble opinion, ice hockey is the best sport to watch live. The sport combines the skill and grace of ice skating, the precision of tape to tape passes, the well choreographed hipcheck is a thing of beauty, the power of a wicked slap shot, the athleticism of the wizards in goal, and the sheer speed of the sport. Hockey is a lousy sport to watch on television; it loses so much of the speed and minute nuances that make the game so much fun to watch. I can hardly wait for training camp to open next month.

You are so right about ice hockey being lousy on TV. It is truly an awful medium for it, for the reasons you listed. I remember the first hockey game I attended. The puck came whizzing over the glass and almost hit me in the head. My buddy actually caught the thing and seriously bruised his hand. I thought....wow, this is cool!
When I moved to St. Louis in the 70s as a teenager they had hockey and since I knew nothing about it but that it was popular there I went to a game with Dear O'l Dad. He also knew nothing about hockey and had never been to a game. We kind of enjoyed it except for one thing I probably shouldn't admit. After the third period we kept sitting... and sitting. Thought there was an unusually long intermission before beginning the fourth quarter. After the place began to empty it dawned on us that it was over. Never been back to a hockey game.
I am not sure what hockey is... I always thought it was something that I avoided in my grandpa's pasture. Anyways, Crimson Tide football kicks off tomorrow. Woo Hoo!! P.S. No disrespect to the icebound people. I just lost respect for hockey when the ECHL Birmingham Bulls decided to relocate.

I liked the Raydahs when Jim Plunkett took them to and won the Super Bowl against the Eagles. He was a retread at that stage of his career; he looked awful doing what he did, but he was a winner.
RE: Psycho; now it's imperative we meet on the Mexican Riviera cruise we're both taking. If you're out there right now, I'm raising a pharmacological cocktail in your honor.
Go Stanford, Beat UCLA ( digdmr: I hate Uclans, too).

You are new here, you don't yet understand the nuances of what people mean when they post so why don't you take time to get to know people and their style before you mis-judge them.

Yes, the topic is football teams. I've had an appreciation for the Packers over the years although they are not my favorite team. However, I have to rank Brett Favre as one of my top 5 favorite players of all time. As John Madden once said of Favre, after Brett was intercepted but then ran down the other player and tackled him: "not only is Brett Favre a great quarterback, he is also a great all-around football player". I like seeing a QB that isn't afraid to get dirty.
Okay, here are our tallys so far. If I got anyone wrong, or missed someone let me know and I will revise the list. Let the games begin!

I'm not surprised to see no Auburn fans listed. They are still struggling with that newfangled device called a telephone down there, and have yet to understand computers.
