I'm a little older than you guys, but I still listen to music from the '70s and '80s. Different songs trigger so many good memories. I remember those nights going out dancing Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and actually making it to work on Friday after dancing all night on Thursday.
I'm going to see Genesis on October 12th at the Hollywood Bowl, and I'm really looking forward to it.
A'ndrea, I used to like Michael Jackson too, "Beat It" was a great song, now I can't even listen to any of his music.

Dig, Oh my God... Genesis. My very first concert... ever. Genesis and J.Geils together at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I'll never forget it! Bringing back so many memories for me.
I remember pulling back into my parent's driveway at 6 a.m., just as my dad was leaving for work. Awkward! Of course, we would be out dancing in clubs until they closed at 4 a.m., then we would all go out to a diner and get something very healthy to eat. Coffee, french fries with gravy. We had to replenish all of the sweat we lost dancing all night.
Ahh... to be 19 again.

In college, my friends and I would go to Bell Watlings Tea Room & Parlor, a gay bar that played the best dance music in town. Remember Donna Summer? How about Ring My Bell by LIPS, Inc.

Yes, Suzy! Ring my Bell! Love it! We used to go this club called "288 Lark" It was named for it's address in Albany. It was a punk bar. My God. What WERE we thinking?!?!
My ipod has tons of old songs on it. I love to hear them. I've been replaying "I Melt with You" continuously since you posted it. It brings back such great memories. Music was so good back then. What the hell happened since then?

Same here Suzy. No green hair. No body piercings. No chains. Not my style. It was all about the fashion of punk. I had the Pat Benatar hair cut. I was waaaaaaayyy cool(in my own mind, of course).
Anita Ward sounds right.

A'ndrea -- go back to my last post. I corrected my Anita Ward/LIPS error. Check out the song Funky Town. I've got to run some errands. When I get back, I'll be moving furniture around so I can DANCE! Thanks for the trip down wonderful memory lane.

Frase -- I like Maroon 5. I remember their popular song, This Love. But I think I like Makes Me Wonder better. I really like the chorus. Also, to you and...
A'ndrea and Dig -- speaking of Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson. The first time I heard Rock Your Body by Justin a few years ago, I thought it was a Michael Jackson song. The beat, the entire formula is very Jackson-esque. I wondered if Michael is anonymously providing music for Justin. Even Lovestoned I Think She Knows linked by A'ndrea earlier has that same Michael Jackson feel. Listen to Rock Your Body and think about Michael.

A'ndrea -- I found the recent Madonna dance songs I referenced earlier. On the CD they are the first 3 songs, Hung Up, Sorry and Get Together. But I like No.3 first (3,1,2) to get the best groove.
Suzy, no doubt about it that Justin Timberlake's songs have a definite Michael Jackson beat to them. I can almost hear "Thriller" in this song. The great thing about Madonna is... she's a true artist. She knows how to re-invent herself, over and over again. I never tire of her or her music. I like "Sorry" best. Did you get your furniture back in place?
Funkytown - reminds me when I went to university in the 70s I worked at a roller rink which was huge trend during the disco days. My favourite roller skating song was Van Halen's "dance the night away" . My boss liked a remake of "The Wanderer" which was popular then. I can't remember who the artist was.
A'ndrea -- Are we not men? We are Devo. I almost mentioned that when B52s came up. That's one of the songs I remember dancing to in Bell's...we would pretend like we were whipping each other with a cat-o-nine-tails. Pretty cheesy behavior. It's amazing how much energy we had in those days. The adrenaline rarely let up. I, too, remember dancing until 4am, then going to the Steak-N-Egg for a protein boost, driving back to campus with a carload of friends, and actually making it to class the next same day.
I haven't put the furniture back, but I did draw chalklines at the scene of the crime. Boogie down.

Suzy, it's amazing that I graduated college with the lifestyle I led. The great part is... it was all innocent behavior. No drugs. "Very little" alcohol. Just having a great time dancing in clubs with friends. Much simpler times, weren't they?
As I recall other artists and their musical attributes, I will post. I've got plenty of great dance tunes still stuck in my head. To me, 1982 is like yesterday.
I used to listen to this song allot when I was little. When I first heard this song (Boogie Fever), I thought it was The Osmonds. The lead singer sounded just like Donnie. And that younger boy, sounded just like Jimmie. It wasn't until my sister bought the 45 single that I found-out it was the Sylvers, not the Osmonds.
