I suppose I should also include the original version of Sharing The Night Together. Which was performed by Dr. Hook, and also available for viewing on YouTube. So click here to see it: Sharing The Night Together by Dr. Hook
Since we are talking about songs maybe someone can tell me the name of a song that I cannot think of. I may be confusing two songs with one but I remember it came out in the 70s or 80s sung by a man. I thought it was titled Auld Lang Syne but not the New Years version. He's a taxi driver and he picks up a ride. They knew each other from the past. This is where I may be getting another song mixed up. They stop and buy some beer. It is snowing and must be New Years Eve. They talk about their lives and then go their seperate ways....Any ideas??
Though I am a grandma my favorite sond today is Sean Kingston's...Beautiful girls. It has the rythum of a 50s song. I feel "young" again. I must listen to it 20 times a day. I have it on my ipod. I dance around my kitchen all day.
SanDee, I know the song well. It's called "Same Old Lang Syne" and it was sung by Dan Fogelberg. There's a song with a similar theme, called "Taxi," by Harry Chapin. But, I don't believe the character in Dan Fogelberg's was a taxi driver -- I think he and his old girlfriend had a chance meeting in a grocery store.
I'm haveing flashbacks! As soon as I read the name of the song I thought Dan Fogelberg but the description made be think of Harry Chapin. When I was in college (1979) my group produced a music video (pre-MTV) to all things -- the Harry Chapin song mentioned here.
Remember when Fogelberg teamed-up with Weissman (sp?) for the album "Twin Sons of Different Mothers"? Good times. Good times.

Actually, at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve it is traditional to sing the song "Auld Lang Syne". It is a Scottish song composed by the famous 19th century Scottish poet Robbie Burns.I heard his name was Robert Burns, but this Scottish crew member on my second cruise insisted it was Robbie Burns.Auld Lang Syne is Scottish talk. I know that Auld means "old" in Scotland. But what "Lang Syne" means; I don't know.
Dan Fogelberg must be refering to this song in his song.
Anyway, there is also a music video (Karaoke stlye) of this song on YouTube. So click on this link to see it: Auld Lang Syne by Robbie Burns
Wow...You guys are good! Thanks all. It still leaves me to the one in the Taxi that is about the same scenario. Lisa that may well be the one called Taxi. I will check that out. I have been racking my brain and everyone else I know for the last few weeks and you guys new it right away...Thanks!
Lisa, You are so right. The song is Taxi. I found the song on Youtube. For those of you who do not know or remember this song here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5dwksSbD34 Thanks again.
The song by Dan Fogelberg is a great song, I still turn it up every time I hear it. I think it brings back memories for everyone who listens to it. By the way, Dan Fogelberg is in semi-retirement now because of prostate cancer. He was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2004, but I believe he may be in remission.

Some of my favorite songs are:
Jackson Browne - These Days and Sky Blue and Black; Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight (Remember Miami Vice and Risky Business?) Mark Cohn - Walking in Memphis; Don Henley - Boys of Summer; Peter Gabriel - In your Eyes.
Now, if those songs don't date me, I don't know what does.
Anything made by Prince or whatever he is calling himself these days.....
He was going by "The Artist formerly known as Prince" and then he was using just a symbol (very odd). Now, I believe he's back to just plain old "Prince". Hollywood is strange.

When he broke away from his producers/recording studio, they had rights to the name Prince. So in order for him to record on his own, he changed his name to "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince" in defiance. Perhaps you saw some pictures of him a decade or so ago when he had the word "slave" tatooed on the side of his face. That was his way of saying he was a slave to the record company that wanted to control him. After the copyright or trademark name expired, he was free to be Prince again.

I saw Prince's performance in the last Super Bowl back in February. I realized just what a talented musician he is. Especially when it comes to playing guitar.
I remember he was playing his famous song, Purple Rain, just when the skies in Miami opened-up. And when the purple stage lighting lit-up, there was purple rain everywhere.

I love love love that man. You know what's ironic....Remember in the 1980s and everyone thought Prince was the "weird" one. Now it turns out that Michael Jackson was really the sicko. Prince is a genius and a very spiritual person. I think he is humble and did I mention that I love him. hehe :-)
