First off, sorry if there is some sort of rule that bans me from gossiping about another cruise message boards. My feelings won't be hurt if this thread gets shut down.
I'm new to all of the cruise forums, and I've spent quite a bit of time surfing the cruisecritic.com message boards today. A lot of people there are SO RUDE! It's almost like folks go out of their way to pick fights with each other. Is this how some cruisers get their kicks when they're not on board?? No wonder I find the worse part of cruising to be all the RUDE people I have to put up with for a week!
I've found (almost) everyone on this board to be more polite and less judgmental, so I was just wondering if any of you hang with the vultures over on cruise critic. I'll go there to search the archives for answers, but NEVER to ask my own question... no matter what, I'd get "flamed" for SOMETHING!

I've seen some of the other cruise boards and I find this one to be more civilized and polite. However, there's a lot of information to find on the other sites as well.
But you're right - the tone is somewhat more harsh there.
I participate on cruise critic and have found everyone to be very helpful - and polite. I think if you look for rude people, you will find them - they are out there, in all walks of life. I don't agree with everything posted on either site, but I respect the right of the poster to say what's on their mind.

I visit all the cruise/travel sites as I am a lover of information. I participate more on this site however because it is more user friendly. I like the set-up better here.
As far as rude people, I tend to just ignore them.
Let's be careful here folks. Discussions on the differences amongst cruise forum sites is fine, but let's leave the name calling out of this. We don't want to start an inter-chat room "incident".

I registeret with cruise critic so I could check out the roll call for my Island Princess cruise last April.
I was so unimpressed with the kind of chatter going on I never posted, never made contact with any of their members that were on the cruise, and have never gone back. I also did not like the format or look of the site; it seemed very cluttered and the font was much harder to read.
Cruise-chat might be smaller, but is much higher quality and much friendlier.

Well I had been on their Board and I don't enjoy a few comments I had read about the people of Puerto Rico, so the way I see it I don't go to a board to start a fight... I like it here and the way I see it I like cruising not cursing so I don't like their board...no offense but as Ron Dangerfield once told:
Rover Dangerfield: “No respect. No respect at all.”

Oh yeah, I've seen some nasty internet feuds. Let me tell you, they are not fun to clean up!
And Casanova Frankenstein, I would just like to say, you have the best screenname I have seen in ages.

Just wondered if anyone here posted over there. I agree that there is a lot of good information to be found there. I also noticed that there are a lot more posters, which probably explains the harsher tone that forum exudes. Mob mentality I guess.
Years ago when I was geting ready for my first cruise I posted in other forums and found the info quite usefull but never felt comfortable or very welcome for that matter. So I mainly just lurked. I like it here, even though I still don't post much it "feels" more relaxed and comfortable. And yes I still go to the other sites every so often to see if I can find more info about an upcoming cruise. But I come back here everyday.
I have tried the other major forum but I prefer the look and set up of this one. It is uncluttered, easy to navigate and less frantic looking. I like it here best. I don't post frequently but I am here everyday to see what my fellow cruise lovers are up to.
Just a little tip... the written word can be misunderstood very easily especially since "english" has so many different ways of being spoken around the world and then there is the slang.
Interesting case on an American Airline a few weeks ago - almost got the Austrailien lady arrested because something common place down under was concidered offensive by the American Flight Attendant.
Perhaps we can agree to try not let someone else ruffle our feathers here. Most posts are really not meant to be mean or rude in anyway. Overlook it and if it really makes you upset have a moderator read it and let them try and help you.
Kind Regards moeve

I visit all the other cruise forums but only actively participate in this one. It gets old having to scroll down three pages just to get through someone's signature.

I visited Cruise-Critic, submitted a few posts, and even participated in one of the "Meet and Mingle" parties on a cruise last year. When I came to Cruise-Chat, I found it to be more user friendly and found myself posted almost every day. I don't visit other forums anymore, but if any of you do, invite them to Cruise-Chat for a friendly "Hello and Welcome".
