Just wondering if the drinks are free in the casino on Sapphire Princess, only reason I'm asking is cause was on a NCL and didn't find out untill the cruise was half over that they were free in the casino if you were playing a machine, couldn't believe it!

Hi Wendy,

Well, you're smarter than me. I've been on 3 NCL cruises and never had a free drink offered in the casino. We didn't spend a lot of time there, but managed to leave some money in the slot machines. I got the impression that a person needed to be a rather heavy player to get free drinks, but if they really are free, I'll be checking that out on my next cruise. Thanks for the tip.

Wendy, that may have been true on NCL, but don't expect any freebies on Princess. As Judy said, I've heard that the high rollers will occasionally get a free drink; but it's not a general policy that the players drink free.

They do occasionally have "happy hour" specials; and I think I remember some free champagne to the "tournament" players. But you are really paying for it with your "buy in".

Well we weren't high rollers, as a matter of fact my sister would sit at a penny machine put her few bucks in and would get her free drink, was cheaper then the bar, and I also played slots and was always offered a drink or 2 or 3 lol, and our limit was $20 a night of slots. On another note I did book on the Princess Sapphire leaving a week from this sat. really excited, got the lido deck way forward which I'm thinking should be just fine, last min. prices wooohooo

I have lost enough in the Princess casinos to pay for at least 2 cruises and have received maybe 2 free drinks. I think that was only because the casino host felt so sorry for me. It is definitely not the "norm" on Princess ships.
