Does Princess still offer a soft drink card for fountain drinks? If so, how much is it and do they have the cherry flavor of coke or pepsi or just the basics? The only info I could find on their website is about a six-pack of Coke.

Thanks, Jackie

I know they still have it, or did as of October; but we don't drink soft drinks so I can't tell you what they have or how much it is. I'm certain someone else will know.

We don't drink them either. They do have the soda stickers, though, at least in November. I believe it's around $6/day pp. I haven't seen Cherry Coke, but I'm sure they'd put some Cherry juice in it for you.

Also note that the day spent at Princess Cays, if you go there there, is no fountain soda available on the island & you are force to purchase soda in a can.

We purchase the Pop card last June on the Diamond and it was a great idea. The only catch is that you must purchase the card upon arriving on board. You are not allow to purchase it any time afterward. Plus we were not charge any 15% tip. We had about 5 to 10 cups per day, so it pay for itself.

That is indeed curious; our last couple of cruises they were pushing the soda cards several days into the cruise. And the gratuity may have been included in the price in such a way that you didn't notice it.

But yes, at 5-10 a day it is definitely a good buy.

Rich C. et al,

Thank you very much for this information. That is a very reasonable price (it works out to $3.95 per day) considering in the past I have drank an entire two liter in one day AND I get a souvenir cup to take home to my darling daughter (one less thing to buy).

Now the question is, can I take my nifty cup with me to all of the dining rooms as well or is it limited to the lounges and bars?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe your refills are limited to the lounges and bars.

When we were on the Sun a couple of years ago you could use the soda card in the Dining area. The Bar Waiter will serve you.

On our cruise last year on the Diamond you just have to show your card to your waiter in the dining room and they will bring you a glass of pop, you don't need your cup at all. We just used our cup when we wanted to bring a drink of pop back to our room at night. Our waiters caught on and every night our glass of pop would be already sitting on our table.

That's cool. I would think the cup would look a little out of place in the dining room.

Thank you everyone for the information.

I was able to use the soda card everywhere. There is no 15% gratuity for the sodas, so just know that refills can be hard to get, as the cocktail waiters want little to do with you.

They should have charged you 15% when you got the card. That is how it works. you do not pay every time they bring you a soda, unless you want to give them a little extra.

I've heard the same thing about some of the drink waiters but since I don't drink that much soda I never really took notice.

We had no problems getting our pop refill from the waiters last year on our Alaska cruise. They were more than happy to re-fill our as many times as possible. They were more happy that my wife and I each purchase a pop card as they indicated that lots of people try getting pop for as many people as possible on one card.

I love it when I see the regional names for things. It's soda here, but pop there. Shakes and frappes. Subs, hoagies, heroes, and grinders. Here is a map of the various regional names for soda (I'm from upstate NY and we call it soda).

As for problems getting refills for a soda card...we've never encountered it. It helps if you establish a good relationship with some of the bartenders.

I think there is only one place that you can not use your soda card. That would be the Lido Deck. You have to go fill it yourself there..........Make that two places the other would be your Cabin.

A word to the wise...don't go to Cincinnati and order a hoagie if you want a sub...they are two different sandwiches on different types of bread and hoagies are only served hot there is no choice in the matter! lol And I always thought a frappe was a coffee drink...
