We are booked for the Emerald Princess Sept 2 out of Rome. At time of booking I was asked about Dining Preference and I chose 2nd seating. Now after reviewing these boards I find that there is a new concept of Personal Choice and also restaurants where one is charged a fee. This raises several questions
(1)Can I change my mind once on the ship and choose PC or is it better to make the change now?
(2)If one has assigned seating can I choose to have Personal Choice just for a particular night?
(3)Can I choose to dine in one of the restaurants(charge) if I have not chosen PC?
(4)Are formal nights formal for PC diners too?

Someone with experience please help out this novice...I do appreciate all help

Al

You could call and have it changed now. If you stay with the traditional dining 2nd seating you could go to PC dining room on any particular night you choose. You can make reservations to go to the pay restaurants as often as you want. If you have traditional dining and choose to dine in one of the other restaurants on a particular night, it would be polite to let your fixed dining waiter know you won't be at the table that night.

Hi Paparam, and welcome to cruise-chat.

To answer your questions:

(1) If you're certain you want PC, choose it now. Often, there are wait lists for traditional dining, so by changing now, someone can clear the list.

(2 & 3) Typically, a passenger who has traditional dining cannot use the PC dining rooms. BUT, you may choose to dine in the extra-charge restaurants.

(4) Yes, formal night applies to the PC dining rooms, as well.
