I am leaving very soon on a cruise to Panama on Princess. I am not crazy about using thw phone aboard the ship yet I will need to communicate with home at least once a day. Any recommendations on a phone that will work well and will not cost a fortune for both outbound and inbound calls?

I am not sure if that ship has mobile service on board. I know some ships are starting to get them so we will have the annoyance of mobiles ringing all over the place. Normally the only service that will work at sea is a satelite phone. Best way to keep in touch is via email. I keep check on my kids once a day when we are away. Mummsie

Cellular coverage is getting better in some of the Caribbean ports. Be sure to check with your carrier on costs. Sometimes it's better to get phone cards & use the payphones in port.

Having free internet access I tend to use that more often than anything.
