I am going on REGAL pRINCESS IN jAN. ANY ADVICE ON TOURS THAT THE SHIP OFFERS OR BETTER TO DO IT ONESELF. I'M MAINLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE STOPS IN TRINIDAD AND BRAZIL. ALSO ANY OPINIONS ABOUT THIS SHIP?
Hello leaderlakelady and welcome to cruise chat. I really can't help you with any advice on the tours you ask about, other than to say that in general I would stick with tours the ship offers if it is your first time in these ports; or unless you have specific recommendations from friends or people who's judgment you trust. But I can tell you I think you will love Regal Princess. I have been on her and her twin, the former Crown Princess and there are many things about them that are great--and tha first that comes to mind is SPACE! The standard outside cabins are bigger than any other ship I've been on. And there is lots of closet and storage space. And the decks are wide and roomy--never felt cramped or crowded. The swim-up bar is a real hoot. The pizza restaurant is very casual(checkered table cloths) and has a great view. Many tables in the dining room are right next to big picture windows. The ship is about 12 years old now, but still in excellent shape, although maybe not as luxurious as the new ones; but very comfortable. My only criticism would be about the observation lounge/casion (the big dome on top all the way foreword); smoking is allowed on the casino side and it wafts over to the non-smoking side; so I didn't spend much time there. But then I don't use the casino and there are plenty of places with good vistas. All in all just a really wonderful ship, and I'm very sad to see it leaving the fleet soon.

In Trinidad, we did the Angostura Factory tour. It was a great tour, they have good prices as well. We stopped at the botanical gardens along the way as well as a vista where you could take some beautiful pictures. You're not in Trinidad long, there is shopping as you get off the ship. It is a very heavy populated port, so my recommendation would be to stay with an organized tour. The line is long to get back on the ship since you have to go through a scanner on shore as well as on board. When we were there it was 6tts to 1 USD, so the exchange rate is in our favor. Can't help you on a tour in Brazil, haven't been there--yet. Best wishes and I'm sure you wont be disappointed in your cruise!
