We are leaving Los Angeles on April 1st--the first 5 days are at sea--what will the weather be like---will it be sunny and warm? The next 5 days are around the islands---will we see much of the coast line from our Island hopping?
Kevin23, I do hope f-mattox sees your post. He's been on that itinerary. I remember that he said the first couple of days out and the last couple back were chilly. Once you're in the islands, you'll be fine. We were in Hawaii, but not on a cruise. We stayed on Oahu and island hopped from there. We did Maui, Kuai, and the big island. My hubby lived on Maui for 7 years. He loved it, but it was just too expensive. He was raising a young son at the time by himself. I can't talk him into getting a job in the Caribbean, drat!! I sure hope you enjoy Princess as much as we do, they're our favorite cruise line. Best wishes and have a wonderful time!
Thank you, Penny. Yes Kevin, the first couple of days will most likely be cool, warming gradually as you get closer to the islands. No problem though; the Calypso Pool and Reef will be covered if it is cool--although some say even covered, it is not warm enough to swim; I disagree.
I don't know how your port change will affect your arrival and departure times but we arrived between 7:00-9:00 and departed between 4:00-6:00 (ll:00 in Honolulu). Since most of the cruising is at night your best time to see coastline is on approach to and departing from the ports. There's nothing quite like having breakfast on your balcony as you approch each island. And the sailaway parties are great too.
