Anyone stay on the beach in FL that is somewhat close to the airport/port. We are cruising the Grand Princess on 11/9/03 and would like to spend the day before near the beach. Any recommendations? Is the beach far from the port?

The port is just one mile from the beach, just over the 17th street causeway. A great hotel is the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, which anchors the beginning of the FT Lauderdale Beach. there are several other choices moving up the beach including the Sheraton Yankee Clipper. Closer to the Portis a good Marriott on the inter coastal waterway called Marina Marriott which has a pool and great views of the exotic luxury yachts anchored in the marina there. Its cheaper than the Harbor Beach Resort and has a wonderful dining room with excellent food. I have stayed many times at both Marriotts.
