Hello,
My father who is 86 yrs. old has booked a cruise on The Princess Diamond for our family in August 2007. It is our first cruise together. I have been on a Carnival Cruise to Cozamel. It was a party. What is the average age of the people who take this cruise? Myself and my brother and sister including our spouses are in our 50's. What should I expect?

Hello Crabman, and welcome to cruise-chat;
that's kind of a tough question--sort of like, what will the weather be like?
What it won't be is a party cruise; but since it's the Diamond Princess that means it is a 7 day cruise, and it won't be as old as Alaska cruises have a reputation for. I would think you, your siblings and in-laws and father should all feel right at home. The Diamond Princess is a magnificent ship with enough different types of activities and venues that all of you should have a wonderful time.
Oh, and by the way, the weather weill be terrific.

We are in our fifties and were right in the crowd. I don't beleive there are as many of the "younger generation" on this cruises. I think they attact an older crowd (40 and up)

Thanks for the info. Our concern was if we were out of place.

I have cruised Alaska on Princess 8 times. You will find the average age to be from 45 to 65. There will be all ages and all types but that would be the average age.

The people cruising Alaska, regardless of the cruise line, are there for the views and to see wildlife. What this means is it a pretty quiet group. There will be plenty to do and still a lot of fun things to do but the passengers will be more reserved.

Princess does a great job in Alaska and I have met many great people while cruising Alaska.

Take the time to go to some of the naturalists talks while cruising Alaska. It will be worth your time.
