Is it the captain's fault or the pilot's? I read in one review that the pilot crashed the ship into the dock. This makes sense because most harbors require a pilot. If it were the pilot's why would they fire the captain?
I may be mistaken but wasn't he the featured captain in the latest Princess Magazine?

the information posted in this thread is often based on speculation and rumors.
I doubt that Princess would fire a Captain as a result of this accident. While a Captain continues to be ultimately responsible - even when a pilot is on board - with a heavy gust suddenly hitting a ship of this size, there hardly anything anybody could do when the shhip is already close to the pier.
I really don't think the Captain can be blamed.
And to me (and others might agree), the accident is not the real problem, but Princess' handling of it is.
Recent reviews (e.g. posted on rec.travel.cruises) of the "Diamond Princess" are mostly positive, by the way.
Raoul I agree 100% with you. Accidents happen, but what matters most is how you handle them when they do. In this case Princess has failed miserably.A person would think that after all this time and publicity that they would wake up and smell the Roses. All this shows me is that they have so much bussiness that they do not need mine.Good luck Lil, keep up the fight ,if nothing else comes of this you have enlightened the rest of us, and there can be something said for that. The wind just wasn't that bad that day. Passengers were out on the deck before and after the incident. Yes, the real problem was the way the passengers were treated by Princess.
Lil I checked it out and the only positive review on the Cruise review board was by a 16 year old that had never cruised before. When I was 16 most every thing looked pretty good to me also.I am not even sure this was a real review or some ones fantasy! The other one besides yours certainly wasn't positive.May be Raul was reading another board. I haven't heard a word from Princess. If I do, I will be sure and let you know. It is very frustrating. Have you heard anything else from any of the passengers who were on that cruise? It is unbelievable that there weren't more posts.
Lil No I haven't heard anything from any one else. I have read several review boards and nothing.I can't imagine why the whole ship load isn't upset.I geuss that goes to show that these big companys can do anything and the people will keep going back for more.I am always looking for a bargain on a cruise as we can go most any time but I will not consider this line no matter the price! Good luck and keep us posted. Tom
