Hi all
If you are booked on the Diamond Princess
call your travel agent. On Tuesday night in Nagasaki Japan while she was being outfitted
and completed the 113,000 ton ship suffered
a massive fire. She was to start sailing to
Alaska out of Seattle in June of 2003. The future
trips
of the vessel will at the least be delayed. No injuries were reported by the Mitsubishi compay
who own the shipyard. The fire prevention system was not yet installed. Anyone in the qroup
booked on her? Bill

Hi Sue
The fire burned for over 19 hours
the Diamond is gutted. The decision on
rebuilding or scrapping will be made
over next few weeks. One thing is sure
she will not be doing Alaska in 2003.
Princess telling everyone to book on
Star Princess which will make the same
cruise. They expect the Star to sell
out soon. If you are going to Alaska
and want to go on the Star in 2003
book now. Bill

Thanks for the info Bill. We are planning on doing the Star Princess to the Orient next year (Oct.) and have to wonder what that will do to their itineraries, seeing she was supposed to be sailing in Australia and then the Orient. Will get in touch with Princess now. Again, thanks a bunch! Sue wink
