Hi RichC....There was no problem with smoking on this ship. I am a smoker, so I was happy. You were suppose to smoke in certain areas, of course you weren't suppose to smoke in the dining areas, like the other ships. I would never go on this ship again, as beautiful as it was, because they are TOTALLY UNORGANIZED, but I would go on another Costa ship again in the Caribbean. Things are so different in the Caribbean then in Europe. If you are from the US I would suggest bringing your own cigarettes from home, because in Europe they sell cigarettes manufactured in Switzerland, and they are totally different then American cigarettes. Our one & only experience with Costa was a disaster & I couldn't drag my wife on another Costa ship at any price. Everything about the ship was terrible. The Costa Riviera was so bad I then (1997) I doubt if it's still in service. We got the trip at a great price back then but I quickly learned that you only get what you pay for. I seriously doubt if the ships in the Caribbean are similar or they would also be gone.
