Must be nice to get perks like that and be able to take advantage of them.
We are travel agents and have a group booked on the Nov. 4 cruise (we are going with them). If we didn't have that, we would not have been given a tour of the ship.
While other cruise lines that berth in NY and NJ do travel agent tours of the ships when they are in port, Princess doesn't.
When a TA can see the actual ship, it is a lot easier to sell, which is why most other lines allow tours of the ships.
If our Princess rep. wasn't sailing on the ship, we would not have been able to see it. Princess is kind of ridiculous that way. You'd think they would encourage TA's to tour - they get more bookings when a TA can see a ship and is able to recommend it for particular clients.
Had I not been given the tour, I never would recommend Princess for families - Princess is not well known for having kid friendly cruises. But the Crown has a wonderful kids program and kids area on the ship. Seeing that has allowed me to recommend it to clients traveling with kids.
And being on that tour we found out in talking to passnegers that there are real issues getting cabs to the Brooklyn terminal - many cabs are refusing to take passnegers, which is illegal. As a result, we contacted the Brooklyn Borough Presidents office and reported the problem, who are now contacting the TLC and reporting the problems.
Princess should be thankful, cause I did what they weren't doing!
