Just returned from the Eastern Carribean Cruise on the Golden Princess. It was our first time, it was everything we expected and more. they treat you first class. Everything was great until we got to Princess Cays 20' waves and they wouldnt let us go ashore, so we went back to sea. Dont let anyone tell you these big ships dont move around, they do. I do think they gouge you a little bit on the excursions, we rented a Jeep on the islands and explored on our own, much better for us, but you better stay on the wrong side of the road in St. Thomas. I also think they gouge a little on the sodas and water, Take your Own.
Be glad that they decided not to take you to Princess Cay when the sea was rough. We were on the Golden the week of New Years. We went out to Princess Cay in the morning (it was beautiful!) but a sudden storm blew in around 1:00PM and we could not get back to the ship because the tenders could not dock back up to the ship because it was so rough. It was a truly scary experience! We waited on the island for over 2 hours in a storm only to be transported back on a very rocky ride in a tender with waves reaching well over the tender's roof. Many people were crying and screaming and many were sick.
