We are bringing our two boys, 9 and 11 on our cruise (Grand Princess) and were wondering if anyone knows whether those small walkie talkie radio transmitters work on the ship. We figured we could give the kids one to call us if we were in different areas of the ship and they needed to find us or ask us a question. Also I was wondering if anyone has sailed on the Grand and ever had a problem with sea sickness really bad?
We have sailed on Grand, Golden and Caribbean. Walkie Talkies are a good idea...we have several pair we take when we cruise as a group. They work well for communications with the kids. Not prone to sea sickness so I can't speak about it on Grand but being a large ship...it would be less likely.

Hi We use Motorola Family chanel walkie talkie radios on the ships when we cruise. They work great. The 2 mile range is cut dramatically by the walls of the ship, but we can usually get a signal in any part of the ship we are on. I was on the Grand Princess last year in the Meditarranean Cruise. There the seas were VERY smooth, so it wasn't a fair test of the ship in rougher waters. It is very rare to get sea sick on these ships. If you think you might, take damamine or something as a precaution, but I wouldn't worry about it.

We always bring our little walkie talkies, seems like it wouldn't be a cruise vacation without them. I even bring them when it's just the adults, easy to find everyone that way.
