Princess is trying a new method for getting everyone off the ship in a timely fashion. They are assigning everyone a time and place to meet a ship's staff member, who then personally escorts that group off the ship. This is supposed to eliminate the mystery of what time you'll actually disembark.

They're putting this process into place on all their ships. It'll be interesting to see how it works.

I don't see where this is any more efficient than the present system; when you get the colored debarkation tags the last night they tell you approximately when your color will be called. They have always been accurate to within 10-15 minutes. The few times things have snarled up, it was caused by customs or immigration--not Princess. And passengers who refuse to follow directions are no help--and this isin't going to change that.

Yeah, I am wondering too. Princess has always had what I consider to be the most efficient embark/debark operation in the business.

"Hi, I'm Angelo and I'll be your debarkation escort today. Assisting me will be Kevin. We are currently 10th in line for debarkation. Does everyone have all their items with them?"

They used that process last week on the Grand & EVERYONE was off the ship by 9:30 or so. We use the walk off option & they wanted us to leave at around 7:30. When I informed them that we wanted to stay aboard the ship until the last moment they looked surprised. We did have to leave at 9:30 or get thrown off. At least the new process keeps everyone from trying to leave at the same time as many people didn't care what color tag's they had & rushed the gangway in a mad stampede. If they actually enforced the color tag rule it wouldn't have been necessary to change.

I think, too, it's an effort to eliminate very long lines of people waiting to get off the ship once the group is called.

Rich, it's good to hear from someone who has experienced this process already.

We've never had any problems on Princess, just gone to our designated holding area and waited to be called. They did the same thing on the Mediterranea and we were off earlier than scheduled. I, too, believe if people would just follow the rules it would be efficient. I guess it's an extra personal touch effort to enforce the policies.

We will have a group total of 18 people in 3 catagories. Would they allow us if we request to all stay together as a group to disembark together?

disembarkation depends on your flight time, not on your cabin location or category. So, if you are traveling together or your flights are leaving within an hour of each other you will leave the ship together.

Most of us are flying together, but those who arent flying with us, will be flying about 1 to 1.5 hrs before us.

I'd check with the guest relations desk sometime early in the cruise and let them know you are a group and need to debark together. They'll put you in the same group.

Yes..we were 8 people on different decks. we just requested to get off as a group; the purser gave same color tags to everyone, and we were home in Delray Beach by 10 A.M, including waiting for our limo driver
