I just noticed that Princess will no longer allow cabin credit (on some ships) to be used for gratuities or casino charges- It seems like another perk is going away or being trimmed back. It appears as though they want you to spend their cabin credit on the overpriced stuff in their onboard shops/drinks or use it for their tours. At this point I'm not sure if it applies to ALL cabin credit no matter who gives it to you or if it applies to Princess cabin credit only. I'm wondering how my "future cruise" cabin credit will be treated in 2 weeks.

Hey Rich, when you go in a couple of weeks give us an update. Glad you pointed this out, I have recieved no notification of any change and would like to know more. Not a wise policy on their part. Some of their competitors let it be used for anything, anytime. You can even just cash it out if you'd like on some.

Cheers, Neil

I've not received notice of that either, but then again, our credit is usually spent the first day at the lounges Wink I'll ask next week and let you know what I'm told. Best wishes!

I am eager to know if this is true. Also, was this the kind of credit you get when you do onboard booking? Some kinds of credit come from special TA deals and specifically say what they can be used for. I was on the Regal in August and used my future ob booking credit for the rips, so I am especially interested to know if this has changed.

By the way, if you have onboard credits from Princess from FCCs (future cruise credits) or from Captain Circle benefits and see that an agency is also offering OBC for a sailing, they ARE combinable. I recently had a couple with an FCC, they were Diamond (or whatever they call them with Princess, they all have different loyalty names) and got add'l credit for that. Our agency had block space and added another $100. in OBC. When it was all said and done they had several hundred dollars to spend onboard. Don't think that you have to book direct to get such promotions applied. Any T/A can have your benefits, OBCs and FCCs applied for you.

Cheers, Neil

Since we're not big drinkers or spend money in their shops that leaves the money to be spent on tours, drinks, bingo or their overpriced photo's. On our up coming Hawaiian cruise we'll barley spend all our cabin credit on Princess tours since we'll do our own thing on most islands. If this cruise were in the Caribbean we'd have a lot of unspent cabin credit to use since we've been to the Caribbean so many times we never do tours any more. If you don't spend it, you lose it.
