I am booked for 4/23/07 this is a new ship still being fitted out. It is suppose to be the same as the Crown so you might to check comments on Crown out.
The Emerald Princess will be a new Princess Ship. I did do the Greek Isles cruise this July on the Grand. The cruise is amazing. If you go to my webshots link below you can check out photos. It is port intensive, but, spectacular.
We're thinking of booking the 10 day on the Emerald for October 27,2007. Once you sail, please give us any feedback. We normally like the Sun Class ships, but only like the 10 day fall itineraries. The Emerald is now going to take over for the Sun Princess on 10 day Caribbean fall sailings. Did the Grand in 2003 and it was amazing as well, but really got used to the smaller ships. Did the Dawn in 2004 and the Sun in 2005 and 2006. So, any feedback on the Emerald would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking at two cruises on the Emerald Princess, the April 11th 'maiden voyage' and the trip in May. Both do the Greek Isles. Has anyone had experience on maiden voyages? Is April too early for a nice trip?
Maiden voyages are tricky. There is of course a lot of excitement and the thrill of being "the first ones on". But, as many will recall, the maiden voyage of Grand Princess was postponed--it simply wasn't ready on time. So there were a lot of dissapointed people. I was booked on the third cruise, which became the second cruise, and I must tell you, there was a lot of confusion. The crew, while very attentive and helpful just wasn't that familiar with the ship yet. To be honest with you, I would not book a maiden voyage; I would wait a few months to let the dust settle.

My wife and I will be on the 5/5 cruise and would luv some help on which shore excursions we should take from Princess or go on our own. To be specific, Is there enough time to see Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri and if not what do we exclude? If we go to Capri is the Grotta worth missing for something else? In Monte Carlo, do we spend most of the time there or do we go to Nice and Cannes?
We were on the Golden Princess last May for the NY to Venice trip. Our biggest problem was wanting to see everything at each port. IMHO, it's better to pick out half day trips and then take some time to wander around. (The exception being in Rome where an all day trip is a must.) We went on the Pompeii, Sorrento & Capri shore excursion provided by Princess. Pompeii is the must see of the three. I wish we would have opted for just Pompeii and a nice lunch at some scenic spot. Pompeii was very crowded and hot in the afternoon - morning might have been better. At Cannes, we spent several hours walking around the town and then took a scenic drive along the coast in the afternoon. It was just right for us. The scenery was breathtaking.
