I am a firm believer in the old adage, "If it's too good to be true then it's not". So I'm doing a bit of homework here.

I recently received a post-card on behalf of Spinnaker Resorts from Resorts | Travel | Vacations.

Looks like a standard scam - Sit through a high pressure vacation timeshare sales pitch and get a free 5 day Carnival Cruise.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Did a search for them on BBB, they had 3 unsatisfactory ratings and 2 with zero complaints registered. They are definitely a timeshare, so if you go into it knowing, you can always turn them down. Best wishes!!

Hubby and I did this once for some property in an area we were interested in getting some land. After you take off all the days that are not allowed - in our case the entire summer months - then the periods you can't travel because of holiday restrictions ... out of 365 days in the year, there was a BIG 2 weeks we could use it ... plus you had to pay money to reserve your choice that was refunded x number of days after the trip ...the charge wasn't great, but who wants the hassle of trying to figure out when you can ask for your money back for a FREE trip.

My wife and I sat through a time share presentation in Orlando that offered a 7 night cruise with RCCL for half price. It turned out that the restrictions made it almost impossible, plus they had charges tacked on. They even offered us a free breakfast for sitting through the two hour presentation. We cancel the time share the next day and when we got our credit card bill they charged us $33 for the breakfest.

SonnyV, you've just added breakfast to the old adage "there's no such thing as a free lunch!" Sniff

The breadfast was worth about $4.99. I do things like this once in a while to keep myself humble.

I agree. I can't believe that there are still people out there naive enough to consider such offerings as credible.

You get what you pay for. This is definately a rip off unless you are just looking for a timeshare.
