When booking a cruise and perusing brochures, besides price and ports of call, we often consider the loyalty programs offered by the various cruise lines. How does one judge a loyalty program? Every cruise line seems to call its program a different name. Captain's Club, Lattitudes, Compass Club....etc. Is there any difference between them?
If every past cruiser is getting upgraded or first off the ship during tenders, then doesn't it become moot at some point? Another thing is in regards to actually redeeming the 'club's' entitlements. Is there a lot of hassle to actually be allocated whatever it is you were supposed to get by being a member of the club?
Anybody out there willing to tell us the straight goods on Loyalty programs?

Discounts!!! Yes, they do have various names, and each line handles differently. You'll get mailing, regular or emails, some with very substantial last minute deals. Great if you live near where the ship leaves from, and flying not required. Upgrades are another thing, some do not include balconies, but fail to tell you that originally. Special cocktail parties, easier boarding and disembarking. I've personally never heard of tenders, but not saying that some might not do it. Also, airline deviation fee is waved which can be a huge saving on some lines. We're doing Celebrity in Europe this Summer, wanting certain flights. We would have paid $75/person, which we got for free. Anything that is free, is well worth it to me. Hope this gives you a little idea how it's handles. Confused

Thanks Sue for responding. So, are we correct in assuming you feel Celebrity has the best Loyalty program and if yes, why?
