Dave, thanks so much for the link. What a traumatic experience for your family! Thank God that your son wasn't physically injured any worse! Vanessa will be in our continued prayers. You take care of yourself too...she will need you even more as she continues her healing. We appreciate your updates! Hang in there!!
Dave, after our discussion on cell phones, please tell me the other driver was not talking on a phone! The news article did not give any cause for the accident.
Hang in there bud.. There are a whole lot of us praying for you and your family.

I hope you and your son are managing ok without your wife. I know it's a tough situation and hope your wife will recover quickly. I also know how the drivers are around here, I play dodge vehicles every day. Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!!
Thanks everyone! Jacob and I are managing. My wife is getting stronger although still in ICU.
I don't know if the other guy was on a cell phone, although that seems to be the usual position for about 90% of north Alabama drivers. I-565 at 5pm on a weekday, heading west from Huntsville, is not a fun place to be. I sometimes wonder if the people on the road are calling each other.
Dave, I just found out about the accident and read the newspaper article. What a terrible thing, I am so sorry! Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated.

I'm glad your wife's situation has been improving, even though there's still a long road ahead.
In Alabama, is it allowed to use cell phones while driving? Here in Germany, this has been prohibited for several years already after studies revealed that drivers using cell phones show worse reactions and are more likely to cause accidents than moderately drunk drivers.
So glad to hear you and your son are making it ok. Your wife must have raised you both well!! ha! Is she off the ventilator? I've prayed she would come off without a problem. Please let her know that there are many people praying for her...and you and your son also! Take care! Please continue to keep us posted. Thanks!
Thanks to all! She is still on the ventilator. Lung bruising is taking longer than thought to heal.
Cell phone use while driving is, sadly, allowed in Alabama and in most U.S. states. I still don't know if this was a factor in our accident, other than telling you that my wife was not using a cell phone.
Hopefully, she'll get off the ventilator soon. I bet once she's done with that, she'll heal faster. Sure am praying hard it's soon. Take care and get rest, you'll be carrying the load for a while and need to stay strong. God Bless.
I was shocked after reading about this today. Having lost my first wife in an auto accident 12 years ago, this has really hit home. Meeting you, Vanessa, and your son Jacob on a cruise ship has brought back some fond cruise memories from years past. It's almost hard to believe Jacob is now twelve. My has time flown by. We are very happy to hear he is okay and Vanessa is on the way to, hopefully, a full recovery. She will be in our prayers.
Glad to hear that your wife is improving and that Jacob is well also. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family and will continue. On a personal note: I would do anything in my power to make it illegal to talk on a cell phone while operating a vehicle. It would be my sincere honor to start that petition for your wife's sake.
Ah yes, Cruise Bash 3 on the Mercury in 1999. It seems so long ago. Jacob was 5 and that was his 4th cruise. I met you in the Atlanta airport while we were all waiting for our connection to FLL.
Vanessa will recover. She is a tough broad. I've made no plan to cancel our cruise for next June, because we'll be on it!
Thank you for your well wishes. I hope we get to cruise with you two again sometime!
Dave, Take some pictures of your past cruises in to show your wife of all the great times you've had in the past, and of what you have to look forward to again. Hopefully it will cheer her up and encourage her. Thinking of you. Jan
Sure hope your theory is spot on Dave, 'cause I'm trying as hard as possible. Good to hear you haven't changed your cruise plans, I know y'all will make it!! Take care!
