My sister just got her son's passport in the mail which is great!! But, they did not send his birth certificate with it?? Has this happen to anyone else??? They are still waiting on three more passports in the same family???

That isn't good. I've never heard of this happening before. She needs to get on the phone to the Passport Office ASAP.

Dave, I didn't think so, we live in RI where can I find this number for her?? Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that they are still waiting for the other three??

I'VE GOT THE SCOOP! After several attempts I finally spoke with someone from the number that I got off the website for passports! She said and I quote "passports and birth certificates go to different departments, the birth certificate will be mailed back within three weeks after you get your passport"! We all got ours about 3 years ago and I have to say I don't remember getting them mailed separately???
I guess I answered my own question..lol!

I don't know if it has something to do with the other applications, but would doubt it. I think each application is processed individually. All I can suggest is to look around here for contact information.

Ok, so their process has changed! You are not imagining things - it used to be that the bc came back in the same package as the passport.

We just received our passports two weeks ago. We were lucky enough to get everyone's passport at the same time, but we did receive our birth certificate separately. They did come the same day, just in different packages.

Thanks Emily8, I will post back when my sister get's her sons back! I know that 3 of the passports were mailed at the same time. And my sister sent her's out a few days later, due to the fact that she had to get a new birth certificate with the raised seal!

I got my passport 2 days ago and my birth certificate came with it! Maybe it depends on the INS office whether they come back together or not...
