Our wedding is one month away, and we just made the decision to cancel our all-inclusive Mexican honeymoon, due to the swine flu. We are frantically looking to re-book.

It's down to:

-7 day Bermuda cruise on the Norwegian Dawn or Majesty

OR

-4 day Bahamas cruise on the Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Seas, followed by 3 days at a resort in South Beach

I've sailed twice with Royal Caribbean and once with Celebrity, and I'm wondering how Norwegian compares. Both RC trips were to the Bahamas, and Celebrity was to Bermuda.

With price and all else being about equal, which would you choose?

My head is spinning with wedding plans, and we certainly weren't expecting to have to make a major change like this, so I'd welcome any advice! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to cruise chat and congratulations on your wedding. My vote would be for Bermuda. There's so much to do in Bermuda. You also would have all your meals and entertainment for seven days. With the South Beach resort you'll be spending a lot more on meals, and entertainment, plus transportation getting to and from meals and entertainment. Unless you rent a car, which will be more expense and don't forget parking fees.

I agree with cruise fanatic.
7 days in one spot will be much more relaxing. You have no idea how exhausted you'll be after the wedding. Picking up and relocating after only 4 days sounds like a chore.
Late May and early June is the best time to go to Bermuda and you can get a multi-day bus pass and see as much or as little of the island as you like.

Hi Honeymooner2009, welcome to Cruise-Chat. I throw my vote to Bermuda as well. As poormom stated, South Beach is expensive. NCL offers a different product than RCI, but it is a great value. They are a bit less "glitzy" than Royal, but I've truly enjoyed the 4 cruises I've been on with them. I find them to be more of a "Caribbean" style cruise line. Of course, I've only cruised in the Caribbean on them. It just seems to be a lighter atmosphere, a little more fun, not rigid. I really enjoy the food on board because I like the variations of selections. They do have the standard lamb, beef or seafood, but they usually will have a curry or a jerk type offering as well. Congratulations on your up-coming wedding! Best wishes, and once again, welcome aboard!

I love Royal Caribbean but in this situation I too would take the 7 nights in Bermuda.

I'm with Luv2Cruise and others, big fan of RCI, but also looking for the 7 day NCL Bermuda in May 2010, great itinerary, sounds relaxing. Love the Majesty, but prices being the same 7 nights aboard a beautiful ship wins hands down.

Another vote for Bermuda. You pack and unpack once, and it is also a beautiful place in which to honeymoon. It's a different kind of cruise as the ship pretty much stays in the same spot while you're there... so it's like two mini-crossings with a land stay in the middle. You can see a lot of Bermuda during your time there.

Happy cruising!

Looking forward to:
Norwegian Jade, W. Mediterranean, April 2010
Carnival Elation, W. Caribbean, July 2010
