Having just gotten back from an e. Caribbean cruise, we found the weather to be hot and cloudier than usual, but not really bad. We had rain in one port, but were prepared for it with umbrellas and ponchos. There's never a guarantee of no rain, no matter what time of year you go. Fall prices are lower as it's hurricane season, and I suspect also due to the less than perfect weather, but we had mostly pretty, sunny days on the cruise. And of course the ships will do most anything to avoid the hurricanes!

If you want/expect everything to be perfect on a vacation, you are always setting yourself up for disappointment. If you are willing to go with the flow, enjoy the extra good value that fall cruise prices bring. We had a great time, rain and all!

GOOD ADVICE. WE USUALLY TRAVEL IN THE "OFF SEASON" FOR THE BETTER RATES. WE ENJOY IT BECAUSE A LITTLE BIT OF INCONVIENCE USUALLY MAKES THE TRIP A LITTLE MORE MEMORABLE. DISNEY'S SUCCESS WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT EVERY ONE OF HIS FEATURE CARTOONS HAD TO HAVE A LITTLE SORROW. HE MADE ONE THAT DIDN'T AND IT WAS A FLOP. HE SAID HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.

IF YOU LOOK BACK AT ALL OF YOUR VACATIONS SOMETIMES IT SEEMS AS IF THE ONLY THINGS THAT YOU DO REMEMBER ARE THE LITTLE BAD EXPERIENCES. THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY GOOD ONES TO REMEMBER, BUT EVEN THE BAD ONES MAKE YOU LAUGH AS YOU LOOK BACK. JUST THINK ABOUT IT HOW MANY TIMES WOULD YOU HAVE THE CHANCH TO BE IN A HURRINCANE? IT COULD BE A GREAT ADVENTURE AND YOU COULD TALK ABOUT IT FOR YEARS.

Lest we scare Bis off, I reiterate - cruise ships avoid hurricanes! One might however indulge one's sense of adventure in wondering if/when one's itinerary will change due to a hurricane, or dealing with a bit more rough seas if one is relatively close, but not to worry, cruising is not going to be The Perfect Storm!

My husband and I are going on that cruise. I'm not sure what the weather will bring, but I'm confident that we will be able to find something fun to do no matter what. I agree with the other posters here... go with the flow! Who knows what the weather will bring, and it might be a good chance to do something spontaneous.

You'll be on an absolutely beautiful ship no matter what. I think the Solarium pool on Explorer has a retractable glass canopy, so you may be able to swim when it rains.
