We are looking into a cruise on either Explorer of the Seas or Voyager of the Seas in late July/early August. We have never been on a cruise. We will be travelling with our 14 and 16 year old kids. I am perplexed by the maps in the brochures. I am a bit worried about getting sea sick and also do not want to be near the engine or disco noise. We thought about getting an outside cabin for my husband and myself and an inside cabin across the way for the kids. My travel agent quoted me a price for the outside cabins that were for a "guarantee of category H or better." However, when I look in the brochure there don't seem to be many category H rooms-the ones I can find are at either end of the ship (I have heard that the middle is better for people who may have moton sickness). Can anyone help me with the following:
1-What is the best part of the ship to be in with the concerns I mentioned?
2-Will the cruise lines guarantee us that the kids will be directly across from us?

Mid ships will give you the smoothest ride although you shouldn't have a problem on these huge ships. If you select a "guarantee" of a category H or higher, you won't know what your cabin assignment will be and you won't neccessarily have the kids close to you. Why not pick out connecting staterooms, with your kids in one & you all in the other. On the Explorer, try Deck 8, cabins 8306/8308 or 8606/8608. There are other connecting staterooms that you can choos. They come in inside cabins, outside cabins, & balcony cabins. Your travel agent should be able to help you. We assist our clients with this information. Send me an email if you need more info: ypond@cox.net

The middle of the ship is generally considered the best if you are worried about seasickness.

Not if you go guarantee status. You will have to book a specific cabin number to guarantee your kids will be nest door to you.
