Well, with much trepidation, I believe that www.CruiseTickers.com is back up and working properly. I have had it rebuilt and published on the same host that shut it down for slamming their servers. They have agreed that the code would not be as invasive and that they would accommodate the site.
Sorry for all the hassles, but it couldn't have been helped. Just think of all the other count-down clocks that have come and gone in the last couple of years. I now understand the problem with them.
So, I leave you with this thought...Tenacity is when someone is too stupid, or too stuborn to give up when common sense says they should....VBG.
Enjoy (or not)

I like that way of thinking. It does seem the failures give alot of learning to help one move forward to success. Has been my experience as well. Good to see you post, I miss the nuggets of wisdom that remind us of things

For all of those wanting to use CruiseTickers.com for your countdown clock...and for any other countdown clock too....please note that you MUST use BB Code and not HTML or ezcode. BB Code is the ONLY one which will work in this forum. I see many members have broken countdown tickers and it is because you are not using the right code!

ok, I'm a geek and didn't see your post. I went back and copied the BB code, so NOW lets see if this works...
Not true, mojomom. If we were "geeks" we could have figured tickers out the first time. It's us "ignurnt" (alabama speak) people who can't figure out tickers.

yes! You have a very good point there!! but at least I did finally get it figured out thanks to Mr. Beers's post!
Would it be possible to put a time zone conversion table on the site? I think it would be very helpful. At the least, could someone post one here? It does get confusing with all the time zone differences.
Thanks and Best regards, Dwayne

Dwayne, this is a time zone site I use frequently. There are links within for searching for a particular city, or for converting time zones between two cities. (I also like the meeting planner function -- use that often for work.)
It appears the ticker is set to GMT -11. So, for cruises leaving from the U.S. east coast, subtract 7 hours from your departure time, those from Texas subtract 6, those from the West Coast subtract 4. In other words, for a cruise departure of 4:30 pm from Miami, enter 9:30 am.
It's possible we may need to adjust further when standard time goes back into effect.
Actually, it appears to be on the International Date Line. BTW, isn't this also used, for the most part, as the nautical date line for timekeeping at sea?
(I have too much time on my hands tonight, no pun intended. )
Speaking of "cruise tickers"..... I love this one here.....but...is there a way to add a cruise ticker to my regular emails? I am doing a lot of correspondence with all of my fellow cruise mates and would love to have this same type of cruise ticker on my emails that I send out. Can any of you advise? I am definitely computer challenged, so be gentle with me. kathy
