Am doing a 2 tank dive at Cozumel. Do you recommend taking your own equipment or using theres? I was planning on taking mine and was just concerned about the size of my dive bag. Dragging along a dive camera bag also. Also, any problems with having the dive knife attached to your BC? They said it would be ok but just wondering.

Unless you are an avid diver and are particular about your equipment I wouldn't lug all that. A knife can be taken in checked luggage.

Hi Diver, welcome to Cruise-Chat. When I used to dive, I'd just take my regulator, wet suit, and mask with me. Now, I just snorkel because it's much less hassle. I take my tube, mask, wet suit, and vest. We take a separate suitcase with us. We put our cameras, snorkel gear, and swim suits in it. It also gives us extra space to pack goodies we purchase along the way. Best wishes for a great cruise and once again, welcome aboard!

Many divers bring their own equipment. You can't bring your tanks (you use their tanks) but you can bring everything else. That lightens things up considerably. The knife can be brought, but according to Carnival's website, the knife will be check with the Chief of security at the terminal and you get it back for the excursion and check it again on the return. I'm not a diver, so you can determine if having the knife is worth that hassle.

OK...don't take my word on it but be careful with the knife in Coz. You may want to do a little research on carrying or diving with one there now. Something to do with the national park. I do know folks carry a smaller one in their BC pockets.

We always take our own mask, snorkle, wet suit and fins. We always use the same operator down there so we trust their equipment. Good gosh...with all the stuff we take now, I couldn't lug another bag Big Grin

Hi Diver, and another Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

What cruise line are you going on? The rules could vary between them concerning the knife.

Jim C., is absolutely correct about Carnival's policies regarding the knife.

Welcome aboard,

Dwayne
