Not really as far as "Pacific" is concerned, Dwayne.

I haven't been onboard "Pacific" but I visited "Discovery" a couple of years ago (when she was still operated by Gerry Herrod) and was quite impressed. Prior to her current incarnation, "Discovery" was operated by Hyundai Merchant Marine of South Korea for some time who turned her into an "Asian tub" by e.g. putting Karaoke cabins in the aft lounge. Major changes to "Discovery" (virtually unnoticable from the outside, however) include a fitness center and new passenger accommodations replacing what used to be officers' cabins on Bridge Deck.

I understand that "Pacific" is in a considerably worse state, however.

In Syndication the show is in 29 languages in 93 countries.

We were in San Juan on a Royal Caribbean ship and the "Love Boat" was in port. Wish I could have sailed her before she left the fleet. At least she's still in service. I love watchng the reruns.

Thanks Raoul, It just looked different to me. Like when they added things to the Carnivale after it left Carnival's fleet.

I love the series too, and would rather watch a good re-run of the Love Boat and Andy Griffith anyday compared to some things we have on TV now.

Onboard there were some famous italian actors shooting a new episode of a commercial series for an italian coffee brand from Naples.

Then you know what fun it is to watch something being shot--be it movie, T.V. or commercial. What is amazing to me is the hours of preparation it takes to shoot 30 seconds of film; and the number of times that 30 seconds has to be shot and re-shot.

On one cruise they were taping a show called Shipmates. It was on the Carnival ship Holiday. When the show aired on TV it didn't look anything like the real cruise.

I was disappointed recently when I was unable to find any old Love Boat shows on tv.

Are there any funny books about cruising experiences? I am looking for light reading material for my cruise on MONDAY!!!!

Happy sailing jmcs! Here's wishing for perfect weather and perfect cruise! The last light reading I did was a book I picked up in Key West. It was a compilation of short stories about Haunted Key West, I picked it up at the museum. I haven't seen anything recently. Amazon had one called "What time is the Midnight Buffet?" by chesterh. I haven't read it though. Sounds cute. Maybe we should write one? Please let us know how you enjoyed Celebrity when you return!

I enjoyed Jimmy Buffet's "Tales from Margaritaville". Not really about cruising though. It was a perfect cruise paperback.
