How do I know which type of insurance I need. Do I just go for the package ones? I am looking for insure my trip. Can I talk with a real person at the insurance co. to answer my questions. My biggest fear is missing my cruise because of the airlines. I am arriving at 7:30 am for a 5:30 departure.

Bob and I too never leave on a cruise without traveler's insurance. It even helps with airlines and medical problems as well.

I've got more information to share regarding insurance. You'll find it in the post We Are Going to Tahiti on my blog site.

Hello,

I am looking at a Travel Insured International policy for my wife and i, to cover our cruise from Venice to Galveston in late October of 2006. My wife's parents are very elderly. If they get ill or die, does the Travel insured policy apply? I understand the pre-existing condition clause, that is, the policy will not cover pre existing conditions but what about other possible happenings.

Thanks,

Fred

The usual rule is "immediate family" can have an emergency and you are covered. This usually includes parents. I looked at that particular policy just now and it doesn't clearly state who it considered as someone eligible to affect the coverage. The claim form asks for a patient name and the "relationship to policy holder". I'd call and ask them first.
