As some of you doubtless may have heard, REGAL EMPRESS was sold yesterday for $1.75m to Imperial Majesty Cruises. (Read more about REGAL EMPRESS' history here, and about Imperial Majesty and their present ship OCEANBREEZE here.)

It will be interesting to see if they keep her running alongside OCEANBREEZE on her current itinerary (thus, a departure every day), move OCEANBREEZE to a new itinerary (it already seems to be decided that REGAL EMPRESS will be used on the 2-day FLL/Nassau run), OR replace OCEANBREEZE (she has expensive/inefficient steam turbine propulsion, comapred to REGAL EMPRESS' diesels).

In any case, congratulations to Imperial Majesty on a winning bid and I wish them every success. In the event that she is going to replace OCEANBREEZE... Well then it becomes a rather bittersweet moment. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
