I don't think the people from Texas would even consider such a proposal.

No, because they are too busy starting riots on cruise ships and getting kicked off the cruise! Laugh out loud

We do like our beer. Found a new one I really like by accident that's made here and only available here. Called Zeigenbach, doesn't sound very Texan though. It's a dark ale that tastes like a cross between Guiness and Shiner Bach. The best part is, at a local establishment it's a buck and a half a pint in a frosty mug.

Hope they expand and end up serving it on ships one day... at the same price of course.

Rich you're right about the smuggling if that tax passes. Think about the hoards that head to Canada for prescriptions. And there is a little people and other smuggling going on to our south as well. I can see it now, check points at all the highways entering the State of CA to check your car with beer sniffing pooches to tax or confiscate your Budweiser!

Cheers, Neil

Going back to the original statement, I did read that one & dismissed it as another drunk Carnival passenger & never bothered to read Dave's comments about the person being from Texas.
That's one more reason why we don't do Carnival.

You mean Texans don't use other cruise lines?

Hey .. I resemble that remark! Yes we Texan's do use other cruise lines. RichC, which ones do you frequent? I'll get my buddies and we will get drunk on your cruise lines too. Big Grin

Oh, and my first two CCL cruises, we were not Texans ,we were living in Florida at the time. I wouldn't bias myself against a whole state based on what one idiot did on a cruise ship. There are idiots living in every state... no no

Hi Jim, We use Princess most of the time & there are only the high class drunks aboard. I ONLY drink wine UNLESS someone else is buying. Thumbs Up

Hmmmm, only high class drunks on Princess? I'm gonna have to go back to Princess for my next cruise. Wanna see what they look and act like that sets them apart. I've seen drunks on many lines, many states and even a few different countries and haven't met a high class one yet, at least not while they were drunk.

Cheers, Neil

Actually, Texas and a lot more states have "sin" taxes. That is higher taxes on alcohol and tobacco.

Neil, I was going to say I resemble that remark, but you're right, there aren't any high class drunks. Sure wish you could have met our tablemates on Costa. Mercy, even in a tuxedo and a really expensive evening gown, they were just drunks.
