just wondering what you do with your ID's etc when tubbing down rivers. We want to do this but don't know how you keep personal items with you such as ship ID card and cold water bottle.
Hi justbme, welcome to Cruise-Chat. We bought a couple of plastic waterproof carriers that we can wear around our neck. The ones we got will hold our cruise card, a credit card, and a little paper money. We got ours from American Express, but they sell them at dive shops and on board the ships, too. Most of the time, the tour operators will have some place you can leave your items and they will watch them. I still like having my identification and credit card with me. We've never had any trouble with anything disappearing. Some places also have lockers. On a couple of tubing trips we've been on, they had a pouch like thing on the side of the tube that you could put your water bottle in to keep it cool.
Hope you have a great time, and once again, welcome aboard!
When we went tubing, we left our personal belongings in our taxi. During our trip, the taxi driving also went tubing, keeping his clothes dry by putting them on his head!
Where are you going tubing?

we're going in Jamaica in October...on Freedom. We have never done it and for us old farts we figure what the hey! Thanks for the tips...my wife was wondering....also what about camera but guess that would be getting disposal waterproof. any other suggestions about tubing?
Justbme, the disposable waterproof cameras at Wal-Mart take pretty darn good pictures. The dive shops also sell camera cases, but they're really expensive if you're not going to be using them all the time. The tubing should be relaxing, yet invigorating, the water can be...um...well, refreshing. I, personally, like water shoes. I wear them instead of sneakers. I got mine on board, but they sell them in Wal-Mart and Dive Shops, too. Remember the sunscreen and have a ball!
I laughed at your "old fart" comment because my husband and I also consider ourselves in that category and did cave and river tubing in Belize last year. It was just a hoot and the highlight of our trip. I bought a waterproof fanny pack and kept our cruise cards and cash in that. We left our clothes and towels in the van that brought us. Water shoes or old running shoes are a great idea. Have fun -- you're only as old as you feel. Judy

We went cave tubing in Belize. We wore the "crocs" style shoes, since there was a bit of a hike prior to the start of the tubing. There were also portions of the trip where the river was shallow, so if you didn't flatten out, your bum my get scraped up. Watch out for rocks.
