Having owned a condo in Fort Lauderdale, you've got a different set-up than you can easily explain. Port Everglades is a shipping/cruise port, and no hotel that easily looks over it. Not a pretty view even if you did, as you'd see a lot of freight yard things there. If you want to see the ocean and not a bay, you could do the Hyatt, but you'd be paying a hefty sum for that, and I'm not sure about kids and breakfast. I would personally go along with the Embassy Suites, and while you don't get the view, kids are welcome, free breakfast buffet, and transportation to the pier are included. Have fun.

We just vacationed in Florida over the Christmas break and we loved the Radisson! No breakfast and not sure about extra charge for kids but great location. We could see the ocean and the marina from our room (and the cruise ships with binoculars).
