Hello, I am 21 going on 1st cruise in november carnival. Whole family over 20 people going. 7 day cruise.

My question the sign & sail cards. I put my credit card on it does this pay for everything on the ship?
Also can you get cash with your sail and sign card say like $500 or $1000. If you can do they charge it as a cash advance or just a regular charge on the card.

I have plenty of credit on my credit card but not for cash advance.

Thank You in advance
Dave

I've put cash on our sail/sign card for the casino. I can't remember what the limit was per day, but I do know you have to have enough on your card to cover it. I think they just treat it as an on board charge, they do charge 3-5% for doing this. Your sail/sign card is just like a credit card. You can settle the bill at the end of the cruise at the purser's office, or just let the bill come to your home. Just be sure you have enough credit on your card to cover everything and you should have no problems. We use our Amex, that way there is no pre-set limit. Have a wonderful cruise!

Yes, the sail and sign card is backed by you credit card. At the end of the cruise whatever your "balance" is will be charged to your card as a "purchase" from CCL. So the cash advance thing doesn't come into play. You can get cash on your sail and sign card in the casino but they charge 3%.. but if that is the only way you are going to have cash, then maybe thats not a concern. Also consider the finance charges on your credit card. They may charge a higher % on cash advances then on purchases, so getting cash on the ship and having it show up as a purchase may be an advantage.

Have a great time on your 1st Cruise!
