Roll Eyes Ok this will be my 3rd Carnival cruise, I hear the upgrade fairy has been generous with other cruises so I booked a 6A guarentee hoping to be upgraded to a balcony. Do you think I should stick to this plan Im fine with a 6A but I am really hoping I might get an upgrade, what do you think my chances are? I also considered a 5A french door just cause I never had one of those any one tried them?

Chances of getting an upgrade to a balcony are slim, but you could get upgraded from a 6A Riverea deck to 6B, 6C, 6D or farther up depending on which ship. Just means you will get a higher deck. We booked the Carnival Triumph in October from Charleston in a 6A guarantee and were upgraded to a 6E Spa deck with the full floor to ceiling wall to wall windows. Great surprise! You will get no less than what you paid for, but there is no guarantee where on that deck you might end up.

Thanks Carol, but Im on a Spirt class ship the Carnival Pride from my brocure it shows there is no 6B, or 6C catagory's it goes up to 7A balcony with obstruction so we would be moved to that catagory, then no? There are only 6A's on Rivera deck not on any of the higher decks so I belive we would have to go up to a balcony if the upgrade fairy blesses us!

Showcat you are correct, I see that there is only one deck of 6A's so chances are you could get a great upgrade. But then again, if you are happy with your choice you won't be dissapointed. By the way, today only, Wednesday April 5th, Carnival has a great special going that you can upgrade on virtually any ship if you book it today for as little as $19.00. - $49.00 for inside to OV or OV to balcony. Contact your TA and ask about this. This is for most sailings for 2006.

Im aware of the sale but Im already booked. I only take singles cruises booked through singles agencys since most of my friends are married with kids, or don't have the money to travel.
It's a shame cause I could save real money if I had more friends to take regular cruises with. Actually my last 2 cruises with with other single women I've met on previous singles cruises so this is a great way to meet travel mates. They all want to be with a group of singles though not couples and family's so we book with the single group.
