Help, please. I'm a first-time cruiser and am unclear on some of the information I am reading about tipping.
In one place, "$15 per person/per day" was recommended. Does this mean I should tip
the cabin steward $15 per day x 7 days which
equals a $105 tip by the end of the week . . .
(which could get pretty expensive if you tip all
of the appropriate people, appropriately)
OR does that mean that as a passenger you can expect to spend about $15 a day on tips and you decide how to divide that amount, depending upon the service you have received. Also, I am unclear as to what service the maitre 'd provides. Thanks

Read Tom & Mary's reviews(under CruiseReviews.com) to learn about a great tipping idea. The norm is $3.50/day each for your waiter and cabin steward, and $3.00 a day for the assistant waiter(busboy).

To further clarify, the usual rate is $3.50 per day per passenger for the waiter, the same amount for the cabin steward, and $3 per day per passenger for the asst waiter.
