5 of us old high school girlfriends want to do a cruise in Feb. 09 for our 50th birthdays. Some of us are married with kids, some divorced, some no kids. A relatively kid-free cruise has been requested- any recommendations?
That would depend what your definition of "relatively kid-free" cruise is. I think Celebrity would be a great choice for 5 50ish women. If it's in your budget, you might want to try the new Celebrity Solstice ship coming out and really pamper yourself with the Spa. I would recommend you talk with a cruise oriented Travel Agent who can match you up with the right cruise. Welcome to Cruise Chat.
In addition to Cruise Fanatic's great suggestions, I would add that you should not cruise during school holidays or Spring Break. I think the earlier in February you cruise, the more likely you are that none of the high schools or colleges around the country are on break.
You may also want to look into Holland America, which will make you feel young as they tend to attract more seniors than people turning 50.
Also, the longer the cruise and the more expensive the cruise line, the fewer children will be onboard. I don't know if this fits into your plan.
A cruise specialist is the best source, but I'd second all the choices mentioned and add Princess to the mix. February 9th will not have many children, since it is during school and spring breaks have not begun. RichC's idea is great as well, the longer the itinerary, the less children-typically. It sounds like a great idea, and a great way to celebrate the new 40 mark. Best wishes and welcome to Cruise-Chat!
